Kitchensie began as an idea in 2017. We wanted to open a restaurant and so the journey that led us here began. First we looked at the challenges in the food industry as well as the barriers to entry. At that point we quickly realized that opening a restaurant, catering or a franchise model business would be very expensive and came with significant risks. Next, we started observing the meal-kit trend but quickly recognized the challenges within that segment. Meal-kit companies are limited in the recipe options offered to customers. More importantly the product cost was higher due to packaging inefficiencies as well as marketing and inconsistent supply chains of ingredients. This model was not creating ways for chefs to earn money. We thought there has to be a better way. So we decided to build a better path forward.
Our goal is to change the way we connect with food by standardizing ingredients and offering convenient ways for customers to purchase recipes while allowing chefs to monetize their creativity. Suppliers upload their ingredients directly to our database, with exact nutritional data. Next, Virtual Kitchen owners can choose these ingredient, write & record recipes and easily share them to earn royalties. Customers can then purchase these recipes either as meal-kits or takeout (cooked by one of our participating commercial Kitchensie).
We partner with farmers, food suppliers, restaurants and recipe creators, to deliver high quality food in convenient ways, all at a fair price. Customers have the ability to search for recipes that meet specific nutrient criteria and soon they will also be able to interact with our chefs/cooks via live cooking sessions. Customers can also track nutrient consumption data through Kitchensie, which empowers them to take control of their health. Our future goal is to allow users to share this data with their health physicians, nutritionists and fitness trainers.
Thanks to our APIs, our recipe library can be curated and shared with specific audiences. Kitchensie is perfectly situated to be integrated into hospitals, schools, airlines, hotels, gyms and much more. These industries can offer their customers the ability to choose from a wider variety of food options that meet their health or taste desires.
